Flexport, the modern freight forwarder, has announced the appointment of Florian Braun as the new head of Ocean EMEA. Florian’s appointment comes as his predecessor Martin Holst-Mikkelsen relocates to Singapore to become Flexport’s Head of Ocean Asia, starting in January 2021. Florian has spent 14 years in logistics, seven of which were spent working in China, and will bring extensive procurement, fulfillment and destination-side experience to Flexport’s EMEA ocean freight team.
“Florian’s appointment comes at an exciting time for Ocean trade,” said Jan van Casteren, VP Europe, Flexport. “We’ve seen historic volatility across the market since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and we can expect the industry to remain highly dynamic in the coming years. In these conditions, our customers are reliant on our expertise and technology-driven insights, and I’m delighted we have such a strong team in place to deal with the challenges 2021 will present.”
“As a key part of Flexport’s Ocean team, Florian’s strong experience will bring renewed focus to helping our customers’ navigate global markets,” commented Anders Schulze, VP Global Head of Ocean, Flexport. “His mix of destination and origin side knowledge will be a key resource and we’re excited to have him on-board.”
Florian Braun joins Flexport on December 1. Most recently he worked at DB Schenker where he served as VP of Ocean 4.0 responsible for the company’s digital ocean strategy. Prior, Florian worked as a trade lane manager in China with DHL. He will be based in Flexport’s Hamburg office.
