The largest independent freight forwarding company in the UK, Davies Turner & Co Ltd has announced that they have further expanded their workforce with the addition of 12 A-Level school leavers and graduates. The company have again recruited young people for their training programme.
This year will be the eighth intake for the Davies Turner apprentice scheme. However, this year the company has moved away from their traditional roles in order to offer new courses. This year Davies Turner has recruited for their IT Software Development. Through the expansion of their apprenticeship scheme, Davies Turner has recruited two trainee software developers. These new apprentices will be working from Davies Turner’s Dartford hub.
All of the young apprentices that have been recruited for this years intake of the training programme will learn about every aspect of the freight forwarding company over the course of their two year apprenticeship. It is hoped that the new trainees will be as successful as their predecessors and work up the ranks into management and supervisory positions. Through the high quality of training and support offered by the business, no doubt apprentices will be given every opportunity to succeed.
The apprenticeship programme is flourishing and the company has seen a strong level of retention over the life of the scheme. This has been attributed to the mentoring systems and determination to make sure that trainees are interested and responsible throughout the course. Davies Turner also makes sure that they offer responsible career opportunities for the trainees after they have completed their apprenticeship.
The traineeship that is offered by Davies Turner allows the apprentices to learn using external courses while working as a part of their multimodal freight services. The apprenticeship also offers the opportunity to work as a part of their international logistics activities and offers trainees an excellent foundation in all elements of the industry for them to build their career on going forward.
