TOTAL Lubricants Release of Their New Fuel Additive

TOTAL Lubricants has announced the release of their new fuel additive. The TOTAL EXCELLIUM Concentrate Diesel has been developed with commercial vehicles in mind and the research for the development of the product has seen that the new additive could cut down fuel consumption by as much as 5%.

The new TOTAL EXCELLIUM Concentrate Diesel has been developed to offer improvements to the performance of the vehicles, especially the road haulier business. When added into regular diesel fuel the additive is expected to clean the engine by stopping injector fouling. Through this cleaning, the lifespan of the engine is increased as the friction is reduced. This could also cut down on maintenance costs. This reduction of costs, and increase in lifespan is beneficial for those that travel a lot, such as hauliers.

The field tests that have been carried out on the new TOTAL EXCELLIUM additive showed that over the course of 12,000,000km the injector fouling was prevented as much as 93% of  the time while the additive was in use. The additive was also shown through these field tests to clean as much as 45% of the existing fouling present in vehicles.

In comparison to fuel that was not specifically additized, tests revealed that the Euro 5 heavy-duty vehicles that used the EXCELLIUM additive for 17,000km had a reduction in their fuel consumption by up to 5%. The additive also cuts down the user’s carbon footprint, by reducing CO2 emissions by as much as 4.2%.

TOTAL is a globally integrated producer and provider of energy as well as an international oil and gas company that if focusing on developing different ways for energy to be safer, cleaner and more efficient.
