The Highland Council Implements Masternaut Connect

Masternaut, a pan-European provider of fleet telematics, has been awarded a contract by The Highland Council for vehicle tracking and fleet management.

The Highland Council, which covers the Scottish Highlands and is the largest local government area in the United Kingdom, will now benefit from Masternaut Connect and its powerful suite of fleet management solutions to ensure route efficiency and evaluate driver risk, creating a safer more efficient fleet.

Masternaut Connect will be operating across a fleet of 238 vehicles, covering all council vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes including road sweepers, LGV haulage, dedicated winter maintenance, gully emptying and refuse collection vehicles.

Fleet managers at The Highland Council will have access to Masternaut Connect’s powerful suite of modules, giving it 100% accurate information in real time across its entire fleet of vehicles. This information will allow The Highland Council to plan the most effective routes to save on fuel, as well as evaluate driver behaviour and risk, in order to improve road safety.

Richard Evans, Head of Roads & Transport, The Highland Council, commented: “Being the largest local government area in the UK, we needed a solution that could give us a clear view of our diverse range of vehicles. The challenge we faced was accurately tracking all our vehicles across a large area, to create effective routes that save on fuel. Masternaut Connect provides us with this clarity and also allows us to support our drivers on an on-going basis, helping us to create a safer working environment for our employees and other road users.”

Steve Towe, Chief Commercial Officer and UK Managing Director, commented “Having such a huge area of the UK to track meant The Highland Council needed an effective solution to help fleet managers ensure they have a complete picture of the fleet at any given time. What Masternaut Connect is giving public sector fleet managers is 100% accurate data in real-time, allowing them to become more informed when it comes to effectively managing a diverse fleet. Going forward, we’ll also be helping provide The Highland Council with a complete picture of driver behaviour for all its drivers delivering safety and total cost-reduction improvements.”

The Highland Council selected Masternaut after a five-way competitive pitch, with Masternaut offering a quality solution at the best value.
