For this year’s Cenex-LCV2016 event, all of the UK funding bodies supporting UK motor industry innovation are coming together in a UK Pavilion.  Situated in Hall 3, the innovation support ecosystem, from academia and research support through to commercialisation, will showcase the Government’s commitment to innovation and growth in the UK automotive industry.

The UK Pavilion will be a hub of knowledge for delegates visiting LCV2016, enabling them to learn first-hand how the UK’s unique innovation ecosystem fits together, as well as explore the range of support available from each organisation. The UK Pavilion will showcase the following organisations:

• Advanced Propulsion Centre
• Advanced Propulsion Centre Spokes Communities
• Automotive Council
• Centre for Connected & Autonomous Vehicles
• Department of International Trade
• Innovate UK
• Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership
• Office for Low Emission Vehicles

The Transport Systems Catapult will be adjacent to the UK Pavilion, which will also feature a number of leading edge industry and academia-led low carbon vehicle projects.  The Advanced Propulsion Centre’s Spokes, who are recognised as academic centre of excellences for technology research, will be showcasing the impressive work of their communities, through an interactive digital experience. The experience will give delegates an “under the hood” view of a low carbon vehicle using digital virtualisation technology, that in itself showcases the unique ways in which the digital community can work together with the automotive industry on research and product development.

Aside from the UK Pavilion, the UK’s capabilities will be discussed in a half-day session in the workshop dome on the 14th of September, the opening day of the two-day event. The Advanced Propulsion Centre will host key figures from the UK supporting bodies to discuss opportunities and challenges identified in the latest Capability Study published by the Advanced Propulsion Centre, in collaboration with E4Tech and Ricardo.  The workshop will offer valuable insight into what lies ahead for the UK automotive industry and how the UK supporting bodies can help the automotive industry grasp the opportunities of new technologies and new markets.
