The buoyant logistics sector has proved a real boon for the Birmingham office of Lambert Smith Hampton, with the firm completing one million sq ft of deals in the first five months of 2016.
Matt Tilt, head of industrial and logistics in Birmingham, said reaching the milestone so quickly reflected the strong market dynamics.
Major disposals concluded this year include: a 240,000 sq ft unit at Witton let to a major parcels distribution company; a 110,000 sq ft pre-let agreed to a logistics company at Redditch; a 102,000 sq ft unit at Fradley Park in Lichfield, which has been let to a tiles specialist; and, a unit speculatively developed in Minworth extending to 102,750 sq ft.
Key acquisitions include a high specification 107,000 sq ft freehold building at Ansty Business Park in Coventry for robotics firm Fanuc and a 180,000 sq ft leasehold acquisition in Hams Hall, Coleshill acquired for a retained retail client.
Mr Tilt said: “I am delighted that our Birmingham team has been able to complete transactions amounting to more than one million sq ft in the first five months of the year. We are well on course to comfortably surpass 2015 levels of 1.5 million sq ft.”
Nationally, it has helped Tesco develop its network of national and regional distribution centres and it has also worked with Prologis and Gazeley in maximising returns on strategic industrial and logistics sites.
