Hyundai Motor UK today announced significant growth in true fleet sales at a rate that outpaced the market. Demonstrating the Korean brand’s strength, the 15% quarter one rise (by 800 units) was well ahead of the UK’s overall fleet and business sector, which increased 12.5%.
The positive start to 2015 is attributed to strong uptake from SMEs, robust results for Motability sales and growing demand for the expanding range of sophisticated and capable Hyundai vehicles, several of which are new to the market in 2015.
Martin Wilson, Hyundai UK Fleet Director said, “Hyundai’s growth is testament to our efforts and investment in meeting the needs of fleet buyers. Our comprehensive range of design-led vehicles deliver high quality at an accessible price, a crucial mix to get right for discerning business customers.”
This year alone, Hyundai UK has launched the New Generation i20 small hatchback and the popular C-segment model – New i30. Still to come this year are a host of new vehicles, several of which are expected to be top fleet sellers for the brand, including the New i40 Tourer and the All-New Tucson SUV.
With the strength of the Hyundai range catering for all sizes of business, a key area of growth for Hyundai UK has been its Hyundai Contract Hire operation, which serves the SME market. Over the same period, the brand’s Motability sales recorded a 22% rise as buyers responded to the company’s mix of efficient, comfortable and flexible vehicles.
In order to protect residual values, Hyundai’s UK fleet team has been careful to balance output with demand – particularly maintaining a more balanced approach to vehicle rental volumes.
