BCA will be offering a unique opportunity to buyers on the 21st of September. The car auctioning company will be selling Sir Bradley Wiggins’ Sporthome at BCA Blackbushe later this month.
The Sporthome has been manufactured by McLaren and consists of a long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 316 2.1 with a manual transmission. The vehicle was first commissioned by Sir Bradley in 2014, and it was finished in white before being vinyl wrapped in Team Wiggins colours blue, with chromed wing mirrors and bull bar. The vehicle is also fitted with 8-spoke alloy wheels and has covered 5,500 miles in service to the Olympic gold medalist cyclist.
The Sporthome features a tailor made red, white and blue leather seating with ‘Wiggo’ embroidered as a detail onto the headrests. The vehicle interior is GB inspired and features a double bed, combined shower and toilet, and an integrated kitchen area that has a fridge, cooker, basin and overhead storage lockers. The Sporthome also features a storage and repair area for the cycles. The vehicle contains five TV screens and a built in Kenwood Satellite navigation system and CD unit, with privacy blinds throughout for overnight stops in the Sporthome. There is also air conditioning throughout the vehicle.
The cyclists from BCA who are preparing for the 400 km Paris Challenge took the opportunity to pose with the Sporthome, before completing a 50 km ride through the Surrey and Hampshire countryside in order to train for their imminent challenge. The BCA Paris challenge began at 8:00 am on Thursday the 14th September and will include 45 riders with support crew and vehicles to fundraise for Action for A-T. The company are hoping to raise £30,000 that will go towards funding research into the rare genetic degenerative childhood disease.
