Xplore Dundee's New Bus Tickets to Be Introduced

Xplore Dundee's New Bus Tickets to Be Introduced

Xplore Dundee is introducing two brand new tickets in 2020, offering even better value bus travel for students and children.

The UniHop ticket for students will be available for £1.50 on services 5, 9/10, 17 and 22 between the City Centre and Ninewells Hospital. The ticket will be valid for one-way trips calling anywhere along the way, including the University of Dundee, halls of residence and the West End.

The bus operator is also introducing a new ‘Mini Xplorer’ Single for evenings and weekends which will mean children can travel for just £1 one-way, when accompanied by an adult who has either a weekly or monthly bus pass.

The new tickets will be available from Sunday 5 January, when Xplore Dundee’s fares review takes effect.  The prices of a monthly direct debit and some other tickets are frozen once again for 2020, however others will change by a small amount.

Managing Director Christine McGlasson said: “Since the beginning of 2017, there has been no change to the prices you pay for multi-journey tickets. With our review of fares for 2020, unlimited travel is still available across our network for as little as £1.45 per day, and digital passes – smartcards and mTickets – remain cheaper to buy than paper ones. We’re continuing to expand our range of tickets too, and I hope that students and families with children will find the new UniHop and the Mini Xplorer suit their travel needs.

“With new features such as contactless payments, boarding the bus is quicker and easier than ever before – and continues to be much cheaper than running a car.”

The new ticket tariffs are available on the Xplore Dundee website and will also be displayed at the Travel Centre and on buses across the network.
