Xplore Dundee Takes Golf Fans to The Open

Xplore Dundee will be taking golf fans to the hottest local sporting event of this summer – The 147th Open at Carnoustie. As a partner of the event organisers, The R&A, the city’s main bus company will provide a dedicated Park and Ride shuttle service from the event’s car park to a drop off point close to the course. In order to minimise disruption to local traffic and ensure the fastest possible transfer to and from Carnoustie, spectators are urged to use these facilities.

“This is the first time Xplore Dundee and National Express have been involved in this prestigious championship and we’re delighted to be operating shuttle buses for the Park and Ride facilities. We’ve drafted in extra vehicles and drivers from the West Midlands to provide a seamless service for The Open, and to make sure there is no disruption to our operations in Dundee,” said managing director of Xplore Dundee, Christine McGlasson.

“We are aiming to make it easier for people arriving in the town by car to get to the golf course and back again. We’ve worked closely with The R&A, Angus Council and Police Scotland to make sure public transport is the fastest and easiest way to get to see all The Open action,” she continued.

Running between the car parks and course approximately every 5 minutes, Xplore Dundee’s low-emission hybrid electric double deckers will be working from the 15th of July, right through to the final round on Sunday, the 22nd of July.
