The red carpet was laid out to Transdev’s distinguished guests at Harrogate’s Rudding Park where a combined 700 years of service from staff across the company’s depots in Yorkshire was celebrated.
The glittering Celebration of Service event was attended by 59 people. Twenty-five recipients and their guests were hosted by the firm’s team of directors and local managers.
The awards were presented by Martin Gilbert, Executive Chairman of Transdev Blazefield.
Each received a monetary sum in relation to their time with the company and a certificate in recognition of their service.
Charlie Whitesmith, of Yorkshire Coastliner – itself as a company celebrating 25 years this year – was recognised for 40 years of service, was the only one to chose a gift rather than a cheque. He was also presented with a Kindle and accessories, and was the winner of a raffle for a night’s stay at the venue.
And, if that wasn’t memorable enough, he received a surprise proposal from his partner Colin who he agreed to marry on the evening.
‘’Our people are at the heart of what we do at Transdev Blazefield,’’ said Managing Director Alex Hornby.
‘’As a newcomer to the business, it was very humbling to join those celebrating such loyal, lengthy service to the travelling public of Yorkshire over the years. These people have been – and continue to be – some of the most dedicated and passionate people in any workplace in any industry, and we are lucky to have them helping us deliver our services day in and day out.’’
