The Local bus operator, McGill’s has announced that they have launched a fully commercial Demand Response Transport. This means that the residents of Upper Skelmorlie will be able to book their bus as and when they need it.
McGill’s currently employs around 1,000 staff and operates 400 busses across 110 different bus routes. The company has depots in Greenock, Barrhead, Coatbridge, Inchinnan and Johnstone. McGill’s new Connect&Go! Can be with customers in 10 minutes or less and will offer the local residents a perfect connection to McGill’s bus, train and ferry services in Wemyss Bay.
The service will make the most of a new state of the art, low emission Mercedes Mellor Strata and will operate a pick up and drop off service for customers as close as possible to their location in the Upper Skelmorlie area. There will be the option to purchase single or return tickets on the bus and all of the McGill’s GoZone tickets will be accepted as a part of this service. Anyone who holds a Scottish concession card will also be eligible to utilise this service to travel also.
This service is ground-breaking and will mean that the bus will be with customers within 10 minutes of their call in order to offer a convenient mode of transport. This new service will also offer through ticketing for passengers that are travelling beyond Wemyss Bay.
McGill’s is Scotland’s largest independent Bus Company has developed a new service that will mean residents of Upper Skelmorlie will not have to stand at a cold bus stop. This new Connect&Go! service is safe and convenient for residents wanting to make the most of public transport and also offers a service that is great value for money.
