LowCVP Celebrate Adoption of Low Emission Buses

Cenex-LCV2016, the largest UK technology showcasing and networking event for the low carbon vehicle community, takes place from the 14th – 15th September this year, and will be transporting their delegates in some of the latest examples of low emission bus technology.

The eight vehicles for the event, examples of which are now being adopted in large numbers by UK operators thanks to an initiative by the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (LowCVP), include parallel diesel hybrids, flywheel hybrids, biomethane and full electric buses, and will be transporting delegates from the parking area to the main event.

Once at the show, delegates will be able to visit the LowCVP Low Emission Bus Showcase, which will be at stand C2/17, immediately behind the registration desk, and meet leading representatives from the LowCVP bus community, including Volvo Bus, ADL, and Optare.

40% of new buses sold in 2015 now meet the stringent low carbon standards, and this UK success in transforming the bus market from a significant part of the emissions problem to being a vital component of the clean mobility solutions is a demonstration of effective collaboration between tech developers and policy makers.

The LowCVP Managing Director Andy Eastlake said: “Maintaining our ability to move around in increasingly congested towns and cities is more critical today than ever before. With road transport responsible for around a quarter of the UK’s greenhouse gas emissions and up to 60% of roadside NOx pollution in many cities around the UK, the introduction of cleaner, low emission buses is a key component – and a good example – of how we can achieve a low emission transport future.”
