ALBUM Conference Changes Its Date and Location

ALBUM Conference Changes Its Date and Location

Scotland’s largest independent bus operator, McGill’s, will be hosting the 2018 edition of the annual ALBUM conference between the 14th and 16th of May. The new venue was confirmed to be Marriot Hotel, in Glasgow city centre, after the originally booked hotel at Cameron House, Loch Lomond experienced a fire related incident.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Driving Stability out of Uncertainty’ and McGill’s will organise a variety of entertaining, informative, and interesting activities for exhibitors, speakers, and bus & coach operators to enjoy, while sharing their best practice.

“We are very excited to host this fantastic event within Glasgow, for companies UK wide to attend, highlight positives and issues within the industry and enjoy the activities over these three days. We are very saddened to hear of the tragedy that took place at Cameron House, and my team worked very hard to ensure we had another, equally amazing, venue. This year, we are welcoming all bus & coach operators, ALBUM members or not, to come and see the trade stands and view the buses on display,” said Ralph Roberts, McGill’s Managing Director.

McGill’s Bus Services is based in West Central Scotland, with its headquarters in Greenock, Inverclyde. It was founded in 2001, restoring the name of a previous operator that existed between 1933 and 1997. The company currently operates over 450 buses and around 100 routes, employing over 1,000 members of staff. Apart from being Scotland’s largest independent bus operator, it was also named a Scottish Insider top 500 company in January 2016.

ALBUM (Association of Local Bus Company Managers) has existed for over 30 years and its mission is ‘to provide a forum to exchange best practice among its members and to influence policy, for the promotion of high quality services that encourage more people to travel by bus’. Every May, the conference provides an excellent opportunity for members and suppliers to come together and talk about the big issues of the day.
