Wrightbus is Ranked No1 on Supplier Framework

World-leading zero-emission bus manufacturer Wrightbus has been ranked the number one supplier on a key public sector procurement platform.

The ranking puts Wrightbus at the top of the list for operators and local authorities buying buses and coaches with 36 seats and above.

Lot 4 of CSKL & TPPL bus and coach purchase framework TPPLPSBUS01 covers any technology – hydrogen, battery electric and diesel – as well as all bus variants, from single deck and double deck through to articulated and 6×2.

The Procurement Partnership (TPPL) works with more than 250 suppliers to facilitate a range of national procurement solutions for hundreds of public sector organisations.

Chris Martin, Head of Business Development in the UK for Wrightbus, said it was a vital seal of approval.

“We have worked incredibly hard across our operations to ensure Wrightbus is the name on everyone’s lips when it comes to buying buses and coaches,” he said.

“However, getting endorsements from outside amplifies our efforts even more, and we are grateful to everyone at TPPL for recognising this.”

Founded in 1946, Wrightbus employs 2,300 people across its operations, with a further 7,500 jobs in the supply chain. It has factories in Northern Ireland and Malaysia, along with a service centre in Germany and sales teams across Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

The company created the world’s first hydrogen double decker and the iconic London Routemaster but also makes class-leading electric and diesel buses, as well as offering Europe’s largest repowering facility – NewPower – in Oxfordshire, alongside a thriving refurbishment business.

Public Sector Framework Agreements have been utilised for many years, primarily, to streamline and expedite the procurement process, offering an alternative to a full open tender process. More importantly, the incentive for buying zero-emission vehicles through this platform prompts a 0.25% kickback of contract value to the buying authority.

James Brennan, Managing Director of TPPL, said Wrightbus was deserving of top billing.

“Wrightbus put forward a bid reflecting the quality and capability of their vehicles, which has resulted in them being ranked number one within lot 4 of the new TPPL passenger transport framework agreement,” he said.

“ While price and vehicle suitability are key factors; reliability, warranty, in-life support, and after-sales provision are essential for public buyers to select the right product from the most suitable supplier,” Mr Brennan added: “This ensures the effective delivery of key public services, which are central to all our communities. The UK bus industry is in safe hands with companies like Wrightbus at the helm.”
