Munich Airport Number One of Europe's Top Airports

Munich Airport has been placed at number one of Europe’s top airports in 2017. The airport has been given the award this title for the tenth time in the last 12 years. The airport was given the title of ‘Best Airport in Europe’ at the World Airport Awards. This event is held every year by Skytrax, which is a well-known aviation research firm.

In the global list, Munich import came a respectable fourth, with Singapore’s Changi Airport being named the World’s Best Airport. In order to come to their decision, the London-based Skytrax had to collect data from approximately 14 million passengers from 106 countries. The company ended up with 550 airports that have been rated to rank.

The awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Passenger Terminal EXPO 2017. The CEO of Munich Airport Dr. Michael Kerkloh was presented with the award in Amsterdam. These awards demonstrate the hospitality and efficiency of the airports, and could affect which are chosen to fly into by travelers.

Among the names for the top ten Airports in the world are Tokyo International Airport who came second and Incheon International Airport, which came third. London Heathrow was also in amongst the names for this prestigious award, coming ninth in the world. Frankfurt Airport was tenth and Zurich Airport was eighth in the world.

In Europe, London Heathrow is ranked as the third best Airport, With Zurich beating it to second place. Other Airports on the list for Europe are Copenhagen, which came 6th and Helsinki-Vantaa who came 7th. Vienna, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn Airport came 8th -10th on the list.

In the other regions, Vancouver won the best Airport in North America, and Budapest claimed the prize for Eastern Europe. Delhi was awarded the Best Airports in Central Asia/ India category. For the Africa category, Cape Town was ranked as the best Airport.
