Pharmaceutical air cargo network grows to 105 stations worldwide.
IAG Cargo has today opened two new Constant Climate stations into Latin America, bringing the total number of gateways in the region to 15 and making it one of the largest regional networks for the transportation of time and temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals. The new openings at José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport and Mariscal Sucre International Airport, both in Ecuador, see IAG Cargo’s global Constant Climate network grow to 105 stations, making it one of the most comprehensive offerings of its kind.
Latin America is an increasingly important market for the trade in pharmaceuticals. Currently worth an estimated US$70bn, the Latin American pharmaceutical market is expected to grow rapidly as a result of population growth and regional economics. Through its Constant Climate network, IAG Cargo is well placed to support this trade by ensuring that authorised pharmaceutical products are distributed safely and their strength, stability, purity, potency and integrity are maintained throughout.
Alan Dorling, Global Head of Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences at IAG Cargo, commented: “IAG Cargo’s Constant Climate network is world leading. Not only are we the first carrier to be awarded Good Distribution Practice Certificate and Wholesale Distribution Authorisation for medicines by a national authority, we offer customers one of the largest networks of its kind into Latin America, which is fast becoming one of the most important regional markets for pharma. We deliver unrivalled support to shippers in this extremely technical sector and expect to grow even further over the coming years.”
The move follows the opening of two new Constant Climate stations in Europe. The new stations have commenced operations at Oporto in Portugal and Linz in Austria, complementing the 38 stations already in operation in the region.
Constant Climate provides customers with precision temperature control for pharmaceuticals and life sciences, supporting temperature requirements as low as minus 20˚C and as high as 25˚C. Customers can book for Constant Climate services on www.iagcargo.com.
