Etihad Cargo hits the highs with record cargo

Etihad Cargo carried more freight in October than in any other month in its history, flying a total of 53,785 tonnes.

This figure surpassed by 501 tonnes its previous best, achieved in November 2014.

According to the freight wing of the UAE’s flag-carrier, growth in perishables traffic from Africa, increased US imports and exports traffic, and greater cargo traffic from Europe to the Asia Pacific region all contributed to the record month’s volumes.

And, in another milestone that the carrier is celebrating and which it is linking to its ongoing success, Etihad Cargo has enrolled the 4,000th member into its CargoConnect loyalty programme.

David Kerr, senior vice president of Etihad Cargo, commented: “Customer loyalty plays a big part in the success of Etihad Cargo operations worldwide,” adding that “the ongoing support and commitment of our partners… contributed to the record levels of uplift during October.”

Expansion in the Etihad Cargo global network is also undoubtedly contributing to traffic growth. For example, in mid-November the carrier confirmed that it had launched three new B777 freighter services from Europe – from London Stansted and East Midlands airports in the UK and from Copenhagen in Denmark.
