Baines Simmons Makes New Appointments

Baines Simmons, part of the Training & Consultancy division of global aviation services group Air Partner, has appointed four new consultants as part of its growth plans. All four of them will be based at Baines Simmons’ headquarters at Fairoaks airport and will report directly to Mike Wallace, Head of Training & Consulting Operations.

Steve Harris has been appointed as Principal Consultant, bringing with him more than three decades of experience across a broad range of aviation disciplines. Having initially served as an aircraft engineer and military air accident investigator, Steve went on to work for Baines Simmons as Principal Consultant – Safety Programmes from 2008-2015. More recently, he was Head of Safety EAMEA (Europe, Africa, Middle East & Asia) at Bristow Group.

Richard White has spent 40 years in the industry, initially as an apprentice aircraft engineer in the British Army, before working for the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority and latterly for the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority. In his new position, he will be assisting clients to understand continuing airworthiness requirements in a safety management environment.

Nicola Steevenson’s new position allows her to develop and deliver innovative and immersive training techniques for Human Factors training. She previously served for 10 years in the RAF as a Tornado Navigator, specialising in Air Defence. In addition to her military experience, Nicola worked as Chief Ground Instructor for Flybe, where she instructed pilot ground school training. She has a B.Eng in Aerospace Engineering and is also an A2 Central Flying School accredited instructor and Part 147 approved Human Factors instructor.

The fourth appointment was that of Rowan Greenwood, who has more than 30 years’ experience in commercial helicopter operations as a pilot, instructor, examiner, inspector, manager, flight safety officer and regulator. He spent over 20 years at Bristow Helicopters, and latterly Bristow Group, in a variety of roles including Search and Rescue (SAR) Commander, SAR Standards Manager and most recently Director of Global SAR Operations. From 2007 Rowan was a Flight Operations (Training) Inspector for the UK CAA. Rowan’s experience means he can offer clients real depth of expertise in the areas of SAR and helicopter operations.
