AirBridgeCargo Second Airline to Join the Pharma Gateway

AirBridgeCargo has announced that they will be the second airline to join the Pharma Gateway Amsterdam. The initiative has fourteen members and was first established in March 2016. The Pharma Gateway Amsterdam, was set up in order to make sure that there was more transparency within the Pharma cargo air supply chain. It has been reported that over the course of the year since the initiative as first established there has been significant improvements in the supply chain.

The announcement that AirBridgeCargo had joined the initiative was made on the 7th June. The airline operates 22 flights each week from Amsterdam to a number of different locations around the world. The different destinations for the business’ flights include Europe as well as Asia and the United States. AirBridgeCargo also delivers cargo to Moscow, Chicago, Shanghai and Singapore.

The members of the Pharma Gateway Amsterdam benefit as they are able to take part in a range of knowledge sharing opportunities. These are primarily organised by Schipol Cargo and it is thought that the company looks to promote more cooperation between all of the different businesses in the sector.

The Pharma Gateway Amsterdam has welcomed AirBridgeCargo as a member of their group with the full support of the Global Pharma Director a wel as the regional Pharma Manager. Other members of the initiative also include the Cyberfreight Pharma Logistics, VCK Logistics Airfreight and Swissport Cargo Services to name a few.

The cargo community that is based in Amsterdam have expressed the intentions to create and develop a system that will allow for the more transparent cool chain for the Pharma Industry. It is thought that this work will also help the high quality that is offered at Schiphol. Schiphol is thought to be the third largest cargo hub in Europe and manages to move around 1.7 million tonnes of cargo in 2016 alone.
