On Tuesday the 17th and Saturday 22nd of November, two groups of volunteers from South Wales will be making their way to Heathrow, London to trek across Patagonia to mark the 150th anniversary of the initial Welsh settlement in the area. Edwards Coaches based in South Wales are supporting Velindre with a free of charge coach to transport the volunteer’s en-route to Heathrow, before boarding a 14-hour flight.
Taking part in the expedition is none other than Welsh comedian, Rhod Gilbert. Rhod, a patron of Velindre has previously taken part in the Mount Kilimanjaro climb on behalf of the charity, but this 6 day trek and walking up to 22 hours a day is set to be like nothing else before. This isn’t the first time Rhod Gilbert has been involved with Edwards Coaches, in 2013 he took part in an episode of his own TV series, ‘Rhod Gilbert work experience’ where he spent his time working as a coach travel guide.
Edwards Coaches is now in its 5th generation of family ownership since setting up in 1925. Covering an enormous eleven million miles per year, over 210 vehicles cover the roads daily across the UK and Europe. The company is currently enjoying its most successful period in its history leading to an unprecedented year, as Edwards Coaches continuously scooped awards across the UK coach and travel industry.
