Freight forwarding company and international logistics operator, Allport Cargo Services (ACS), has announced that its incumbent Managing Director, Charles McGurin, will become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with immediate effect.
Founded over 50 years ago as Allport, ACS, as part of the Cargo Services Group based in Hong Kong, is now one of the leading freight-forwarders and international logistics providers in the UK and has a substantial overseas network with operations in over 30 countries worldwide and representation in a further 100.
With extensive experience of the sector, McGurin took his post as Managing Director at ACS in 2014, and is driving the company’s growth and further expansion, in tandem with the fast development of its parent company, Cargo Services Group, in China, Australia, South Africa and Singapore and the recent entry into the U.S.A. market.
The newly-created position of CEO will ensure that the organisational structure of ACS adapts to meet its global aspirations. The tactical move also reinforces the strategic growth directive, to bolster competitive positioning within an international marketplace.
Heath Zarin, Chairman of Allport Cargo Services Group, comments; “This is an exciting time for the freight-forwarding and international logistics industry and ACS is pleased to be at the forefront of it, delivering ‘Concept to Cash’ Retail Solutions in the Technology-enabled Supply Chain® for retailers in the UK and other parts of the world for Cost Efficiencies and Speed-to-Market.”
“We have an excellent platform for significant growth and it is essential that our organisational structure reflects our standing. As CEO, Charles McGurin will play a pivotal role in further establishing ACS as a market leader on a global scale.”
