National Express announces faster journeys between Manchester and London

National Express has announced faster journey times on its 540 coach service between Manchester and London, with journey times reduced by up to 30 minutes.

With faster, improved services between the capital city and the music capital, the UK’s largest scheduled coach operator is giving customers more time to enjoy their destinations after a relaxing, comfortable journey onboard.

National Express provides frequent journeys throughout the day on the 540 service between Manchester and London, with fares starting from £15.90*. Some journeys are now up to half an hour quicker, meaning customers arrive at their destination in a little over four hours.

Ahead of the summer holidays, the coach operator is also enhancing its Trans Pennine coach network with services to and from central Manchester and Manchester Airport.

From Friday 17th May an enhanced 170 service between Manchester, Manchester Airport, Liverpool and Leeds will begin, while also introducing Warrington (Hulme) to the network. Customers will benefit from the reintroduction of locally available journeys across this key travel corridor, in particular between central Manchester and Manchester Airport.

From the same date, the 171 service between Manchester, Liverpool, Bradford and Leeds will also see the same enhancements.

The latest investment in providing reliable, affordable and sustainable coach travel connecting cities, towns and airports follows a continued surge in customers turning to National Express during 2023 and provides savvy travellers with even more great value options for travel.

It comes as the company celebrates a year of passenger growth, with over 19 million customers travelling on its coach network in 2023 – a 25 per cent increase in passengers, up from 15 million in 2022.

National Express also continues to invest in its fleet, with 150 brand new vehicles expected to hit the roads this year, meaning customers will be able to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing journey to hundreds of destinations across the country.

Ed Rickard, Network Director for National Express UK and Ireland, said:

“With continued investment in our coach network, including these improved, faster journeys to and from Manchester, we are making it even easier for savvy travellers to save their money for their holidays, with convenient, great value travel and a guaranteed seat.

“More and more people are choosing to travel with National Express as a reliable, affordable and sustainable way to get around, and we’re responding by investing in new vehicles and services while delivering a brilliant customer experience for a relaxing, comfortable journey.”
