The DVSA’s Earned Recognition (ER) scheme, rewarding operators who share their performance data to demonstrate they are meeting regulatory requirements, has been expanded into the concrete and quarry industry with a new module. The British Aggregates Association (BAA) worked with the enforcement agency to produce an ER module requiring operators to have the highest standards in policies and processes.

“We are committed to growing the DVSA earned recognition scheme that supports exemplary vehicle operations. Businesses want assurances that their contractors are committed to road safety. Both DVSA and the BAA share the belief that those that are, deserve to reap the reputational and commercial rewards,” said DVSA’s director of enforcement, Marian Kitson.

As a scheme member you are less likely to have your vehicles stopped at the roadside for inspections and less likely for DVSA enforcement staff to visit your premises.

“Partnering with the ER team to develop the concrete operational module enabled us to develop a safety standard that can be adopted across our sector. Standards that affect the entire ready-mix concrete supply chain have been mapped to current legislation, British Standards, and aligned to the requirements set out by the mixer manufacturers,” added Mark Cowan, director of transport logistics and concrete at the BAA.

This the latest module available to ER operators and follows the introduction of the Transport for London High Speed 2 and London Power Tunnels modules.
