AWPR Plans On Public Display

Road users and communities across the north-east are being given an opportunity to look at the plans for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route / Balmedie-Tipperty scheme through a two-week programme of public exhibitions.

The exhibitions will begin in Charleston on Monday 23rd June at the Thistle Hotel in Altens between 12 noon and 7pm.

The exhibitions, which will take place in advance of the school holiday period, will include details on:

–  The route

–  The far reaching benefits of the project

–  Progress of advance works

–  Environmental mitigation

Transport Minister Keith Brown said:

“Earlier this month, we announced that Connect Roads had been appointed as preferred bidder for the AWPR project. This is great news for the people of the north-east and a very timely reminder that this road is coming, and soon.

“These exhibitions will give people a chance to remind themselves of the plans we have for the road and find out what it will mean for them. From bringing in an additional £6 billion to the local economy and generating around 900 construction jobs, to improving safety and cutting congestion – the benefits of this project are very substantial.

“As the project is now in its final stages prior to general construction, I would encourage communities and road users to take the opportunity to visit these exhibitions and remind themselves of the plans for this project.”

Members of the project team will be available at the exhibitions to answer questions.

Councillors and community councillors from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire have been invited to attend a preview of the exhibition on Friday 20th June.
