A Leicestershire logistics company has secured a new contract with a neighbouring business. Armstrong Logistics has been operating for a quarter of a century and moved to its present base at Logix Park, Hinckley, in 2009.
UK Flooring Direct, a national online flooring retailer moved to Logix Park in 2017 to support its expansion plans. Both companies are based in neighbouring buildings just off the A5, and are now working together after a trial period.
“This makes perfect sense from a business point of view. Armstrong Logistics is right on our doorstep and we are very pleased to be working with a local company in delivering our products right across the country. UK Flooring Direct has plans to grow even further over the coming years and, as part of that growth, the company wants to play a positive role in the local community. It’s positive news for the local economy that our expansion is leading to new business for other companies in the area,” said Andrew Mackin, head of transport at UK Flooring Direct.
Armstrong Logistics, which employs 350 staff across three sites, is carrying out about 500 deliveries per week on behalf of UK Flooring Direct to its customers around the country.
“It is great to be working with our closest neighbour in Hinckley – we certainly don’t have far to travel when we are picking up consignments. We have been working on growing our client-base and this is very much part of that strategy,” added Dave Coles, contracts manager for Armstrong Logistics.
“The company now has 87 vehicles operating on a 24/7 basis and the ‘to the door’ service we provide was exactly what UK Flooring Direct was looking for. Both businesses are growing and that can only benefit the local economy, providing jobs and investment for the area.”
