Gregory Distribution has welcomed five new refrigerated trailers from Carrier Transicold, each specified with a Vector® 1550 unit. The new additions will be joining a 135 strong refrigerated trailer fleet that has been using Carrier for more than 13 years.
The mono-temperature Vector 1550 units are mounted to 13.6-metre Don-Bur Insuliner curtainside refrigerated trailers, which are suitable for the rapid loading and unloading requirements of Gregory Distribution’s dairy contracts. They deliver a blend of power and efficiency, with exceptional pull-down speeds and temperature control that allows a quick change between ambient and refrigerated loads.
“We’ve only specified Carrier refrigeration units since 2004 because we get everything we need from Carrier Transicold,” said Dan Saunders, technical support manager, Gregory Distribution. “The units are extremely reliable, the service levels are second to none and their continued commitment to innovation has kept us coming back year after year.”
The new units have joined 30 Vector 1550 and 105 Vector 1950 multi-temperature systems already in operation within the fleet.
“We operate 2,000 commercial vehicle assets and generally specify box bodies for our refrigerated trailers. These new units will be used primarily to transport dairy products across the UK, so the combination of the Insuliner curtain and the Vector 1550 works effectively, giving us the versatility to load whatever is required for the return trip,” added Saunders.
Each one of the new trailers will be travelling more than 150,000 kilometres a year across the UK, seven days a week, delivering temperature controlled and time critical goods.
Gregory Distribution will be celebrating 100 years of trading in 2019 and it currently serves more than 400 customers, ranging from local companies to large, multinational organisations, delivering goods regionally and nationally.
