On Saturday the 7th October, the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers held their Annual General Meeting. The event was held by the Federation at the IAAF offices located in Birmingham. Among the hot topics at this meeting was the proposed ban by the UK Government of sole petrol or diesel engine cars.

The Federation of Engine Remanufacturers celebrates thier 80th anniversary earlier in 2017. The organisation has celebrated this milestone and has also experienced growth, with the addition of more members. The Federation also held a range of regional meetings that received a positive response.

The Annual General Meeting allows the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers to give their members a deeper insight into the work that has been put in by the organisation as well as offer a platform that will allow the members of the Federation to discuss the latest key policy that could affect the action of the organisation going forward. The Federation of Engine Remanufacturers was first formed in 1937 in order to help create higher standards of workmanship in the industry. Now the organisation is the only corporate body the represents the engine remanufacturing in the UK.

The advancement of technology in this area has continued this year. The Federation is now looking to expand their remit having attracted attention from a range of companies who are involved in the wider remanufacturing such as the remanufacturing of turbos and major units, as well as the remanufacture of engines for commercial, agricultural and marine sectors.

The news this year that the the UK government plans to ban the sole use of petrol and diesel engine cars from 2040, the Federation has looked at how their members are preparing for the future. The high attendance to this year’s Annual General Meeting is thought to illustrate the keenness of the Federation members to to discuss the challenges that are faced by the industry.
