Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres has been announced as the new manager for Shanks Waste Management Ltd’s
commercial vehicles. The Grantham based family owned business has been working to deliver retread
tyres as well as managing a number of different tyre management contracts since 1950. The business
has been selected to manage the commercial vehicles and the plant and machinery tyres for Shanks
Waste Management. The work will be at a number of different recycling centre around the UK.
The Waste Management business will have their vehicles managed individually by Vacu-Lug’s software.
The Tyre management company has a unique VMS programme that is based on the internet and will
allow each of the vehicles to receive monitoring, repair and tyre maintenance services. Vehicles that will
be part of this individual management will include the entire delivery and collection fleet for Shanks
Waste Management as well as the roll-on- roll-off hook-lifts that have drawbar trailers and a few of the
wheeled equipment that is used in the plant or other OTR equipment.
Vacu-Lug Traction Tyres was awarded the contract for the vehicle maintenance by Shanks after a long
and thorough tender process. The maintenance company was selected after a number of months of
close evaluation, and is now at their 3-month evaluation. So far Shanks has revealed that they are
satisfied with the service that has been provided by Vacu-Lug.
Shanks has been working in order to cut down on the amount of time their fleet vehicles and other
equipment is out of use for maintenance and since the contract was awarded. The company now
intends on building on this success by maintaining the fast times for vehicle responses and repairs in the
future. The VMS system that has been installed in the fleet and equipment has also meant that the
vehicles are fitted with high standard new or retread tyres in order to make sure that the vehicles
comply with all of the proper laws and regulations.
