The Dutch company LIQAL has managed to secure an investment from Brabant Development Agency and KIKK Capital, the investment fund. LIQAL creates technology that makes liquefied natural gas a more appealing replacement for diesel fuel. It is hoped that the liquefied natural gas, or LNG, will be able to cut down some of the diesel usage in the heavy road and water transport sector. It has been found that the use of hydrogen and LNG can help improve air quality and is far better in terms of making changes to benefit the climate.
The investment that has been secured by LIQAL will help the company to continue to grow across the Netherlands and abroad. More immediately thought the company will be working on recruiting more personnel. Some of these new recruits will be working on new projects for the company. It is thought that LIQAL plan on using the capital they have secured to provide more financial stability and boost their work on innovations.
LIQAL is based in Breda and currently has a presence in the Netherlands and Belgium. The company has detailed plans to expand so that they become a part of the whole European market. It is thought that despite the low price of oil at the minute, these new and more sustainable fuel types are becoming more and more in demand. LIQAL recently opened a new LNG fueling station in Heerenveen on behalf of ENGIE LNG Solutions. There are plans for more refueling stations to follow in Alkmaar for ENGIE and Lokeren in Belgium for Tankterminal.
LIQAL’s innovation works by stopping the LNG from evaporating. This means that the fuel can be stored in a filling station for an unlimited period of time. LIQAL’s solution means that their system can be used on ships. The filling stations that have been designed consider the end user as they are easy to use and safe. LIQAL can also offer other turnkey solutions for their clients.
