Following Preem’s investment of 355 million kronor in a new facility at the Port of Gothenburg a year ago, annual production has been doubled to help meet the government’s strict emission targets.
Preem is investing heavily in domestic resources in order to meet the Swedish government’s ambitious target of Sweden’s entire vehicle fleet being totally independent of fossil fuels by 2030.
Since 2011, Preem has produced Preem Evolution Diesel, a diesel with a renewable content of up to 50%. It’s produced in part using tall oil, a residual product from the Swedish forest and paper industry.
Its use has reduced Sweden’s carbon emissions by more than 680,000 tonnes during 2015 – equivalent to emissions from around 217,000 vehicles.
