UKWA’s chief executive officer, Roger Williams, comments: “We are grateful to all those companies that entered this year’s Awards for Warehousing and the ones that did not make the shortlist of finalists should not be put off from entering in future years. The high number and quality of the entries we received underlines the professionalism that runs through the modern logistics industry.”
UKWA’s Awards are established as symbols of achievement in the 3PL sector and emphasise the importance of logistics within today’s economy.
The Awards Luncheon is widely regarded as one of the premier networking events in the logistics industry’s calendar. This year over 400 UKWA members and their guests are expected to attend.
“All members – including those that did not make the finalist’s shortlist – are urged to come along and enjoy one of the most important occasions in the logistics industry’s year,’” says Roger Williams.
The event commences at 12 noon with a Gala Reception in the Opal Suite of the Dorchester followed by a 3-course luncheon. The day’s events finish between 3.45 and 4.00pm.
The host of this year’s UKWA Awards for Warehousing presentation ceremony is Gyles Brandreth – the writer, broadcaster, former MP and Government Whip. Gyles is one of Britain’s most sought-after award ceremony hosts and after- dinner speakers. A reporter on The One Show on BBC1 and a regular on Radio 4’s Just a Minute, his many books include ” The Oscar Wilde Murder Mysteries and the No 1 best-seller: The 7 Secrets of Happiness.
Roger Williams, UKWA’s chief executive officer, commented: “Regulars at our awards events down the years will recall that this is the second time we have chosen Gyles as our host. He was extremely well received the first time – back in 2006 – and we are delighted that he will be joining us again.”
