Meachers Global Logistics Extend Contract With Global Packaging Firm Huhtamaki
Meachers Global Logistics has successfully extended its contract with one of the world’s largest packaging companies, Huhtamaki, by a further 3 years and have taken on, in addition to their current role, all of the organisations UK external warehousing.
Gosport based Huhtamaki (UK) Ltd, manufactures plastic and paper packaging for FMCG goods, fresh foods and catering disposable markets servicing many of the well known high street brands.
Meachers has developed a close working relationship with Huhtamaki having worked with the company since 2007. The new contract will see the logistics firm continue to run a significant number of full and part loads across the UK per day utilising part of its large fleet of articulated lorries and trailers.
The new contract, along with some other business wins, has resulted in Meachers expanding its Southampton warehousing facilities by a further 20,000 feet in order to accommodate Huhtamaki’s external storage needs.
UK Supply Chain Manager at Huhtamaki UK, Gary Owen, said: “Meachers has continued to provide Huhtamaki with an excellent service throughout the contract period. Our decision to re-appoint Meachers was based on number of commercial factors, but primarily the close working partnership we have developed over the last 7 years. I have no doubt that they will be able to continue to deliver a high level of service over the coming years.
