Transport and logistics operating and surveying firm Blue Arrow have found that compared to the previous year, there has been a 9.3 per cent increase in the average wage earnings of forklift operators. Whereas before the price figures of an average operator would be £20,367, it has been found by the site that this figure has increased to £22,253.
This is good news for those in the forklift operating trade but is an unusual statistic, considering the overall fall in wage earnings that has been noticed over the course of the last year in the transport, logistics and manufacturing sector of this country. On the whole, Blue Arrow found that wages overall in the industry average figures had gone down to £29,452 from a previously slightly higher figure that was £30,198. It is quite clear that with this 2.5 per cent dip in the wages of most professional drivers in the industry that the wage earnings are set to get tighter, but it is hoped that the manufacturing and transport industries as a whole will be able to recover from this dip.
On the other hand, the wages of fitters around the country were shown to have increased considerably by 8.7 per cent to an average amount of £29, 187. As a whole, it does seem that wages however of individuals within that sector have stagnated, though not quite yet to the insane degrees that were expected: but that of course is yet to come. As well as this, welders in Britain, whilst the highest paid workers in the trade in the country, will have experienced a drop of living standards since their wage earnings have fallen to a total of a little over £25,000 a year. This indicates a drop by no less than 3.7 per cent and is a sign nonetheless that even workers within that industry must brace themselves for more wage cuts.
