Thieves Targeting Keyless Luxury Cars In London

Police in London are reporting a spike in attacks on luxury cars, including Range Rovers and BMWs, as criminals target keyless vehicles to bypass their security systems and drive away scott free. TRACKER, the stolen vehicle recovery (SVR) expert, uses a combination of three technologies, making it the most advanced solution on the market, helping motorists increase the chance of their vehicle being located by police, if it’s stolen. TRACKER Locate’s autumn discount includes installation for just £312. That’s a saving of £150 for car owners keen to stop thieves in their tracks.

According to the latest reports, thieves are currently targeting luxury 4X4s with keyless ignition systems. Criminal gangs have found a way to bypass this security feature and the problem is spreading so quickly, that insurers are meeting with motor manufacturers to discuss the issue. In addition, experts, such as Thatcham Research, warn that as more thieves learn how to get past keyless security systems, criminals will target lower value vehicles too. TRACKER urges car owners to invest in an added layer of security to help close the net on thieves, using SVR solutions that harness the latest technology.

Andy Barrs, Police Liaison Officer for TRACKER, says, “Unlike any other SVR unit, TRACKER Locate combines VHF, GSM and GPS technology to accurately pinpoint where a stolen vehicle is located.  Our VHF technology is so powerful that we give our customers the highest level of confidence in the form of a Guarantee. If TRACKER is unable to locate a customer’s car within 48 hours, we will refund the customer’s subscription fee*. This gives motorists an added layer of protection, especially, if they are worried about the security offered by their keyless ignition.

“TRACKER is the only SVR solution to be used by all of the UK’s police forces which is why installing one of our units can significantly increase the chance of police locating and returning a stolen vehicle.  Indeed 95% of stolen cars fitted with TRACKER are returned to their owners and 86% of these are recovered within 24 hours. Anyone signing up for TRACKER Locate this autumn also saves £150 off the usual price, bringing them added protection for less.

TRACKER has been reuniting car lovers with their vehicles for over 20 years, and it’s this expertise which makes TRACKER the leader in stolen vehicle recovery. TRACKER stolen vehicle recovery systems work like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in one of several dozen places around the vehicle. There is no visible aerial, so the thief won’t even know it’s there. Unlike other devices, TRACKER’s unique technology can locate stolen vehicles anywhere, even when they are hidden in a garage, container or underground car park.
