Spring Global Mail (Spring) has launched in the UK a new postal service for sending lithium batteries to European destinations.

The new service offers a postal channel for manufacturers and retailers to deliver lithium batteries cost effectively through either standard or registered post.

The service applies to lithium batteries packaged with equipment and lithium batteries packaged on their own, with a maximum weight of 2kg.

Lithium batteries are classified as dangerous goods and when packaged either with equipment or loose have to travel through road linehaul not airmail. The new service has been developed by Spring to meet increasing market demand for sound, practical help in navigating through the very complex rules and regulations around the safe handling, packaging and transportation of lithium batteries.

The simplicity of Spring’s new solution is that all customers receive the support of a Sales Executive who guides them through what needs to be done to get their specific goods identified, processed and packaged correctly.

Once the customer has the correct packaging and labelling Spring can collect the goods through their UK national collection network and deliver to the destination quickly and efficiently through Spring’s European road network.

Standard post destinations are Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland.

Registered post deliveries are made to the Netherlands, France, Germany, Denmark and Luxembourg.

Paul Taylor, Head of Sales & Marketing, Spring Global Mail UK, said the new service was part of Spring’s strategy to support businesses in a constantly changing marketplace: “The new service offers an expertise and a straightforward postal solution that removes the complications and barriers to business that have existed until now for many senders wishing to transport lithium batteries.”
