Four new Air Mass Meter inserts have been developed by Standard Motor Products Europe (SMPE), one of the UK’s largest independently owned automotive parts manufacturers and suppliers, at its headquarters in Nottingham, UK. The parts are the latest Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) types, providing a more precise signal to the ECU to help control fuelling more accurately.

SMPE has developed the new sensors in-house and are currently being manufactured at the company’s ISO 9001:2015 accredited Nottingham manufacturing facility, to ensure consistent quality and performance.

In total, there are four parts: part number 19377-M, which fits a large number of extremely popular Chevrolet, Opel and Vauxhall petrol and diesel models including Aveo, Adam, Astra, Corsa, Meriva and Zafira Tourer (2009-); part number 19310-M, which fits a variety of BMW 5, 6, 7, X5 and X6 models which use the 4.0, 4.4 and 4.8 litre V8 (2005–2014); part number 19782-M, which fits Opel/Vauxhall Mokka and Chevrolet Trax using the 1.7 CDTi (131bhp) engine; and part 19865-M, which is brand new to the range and fits the top of the range Audi A8 with 6.3 litre W12 engine.

The sensors are directly replacing the original units, while meeting or exceeding their performance. SMPE’s in-house engineering team identifies any weaknesses in the original design and improves these to aid performance and increase longevity of the parts.

As they are designed and manufactured by SMPE in-house, the company is currently the only parts supplier in the UK aftermarket to supply these sensors.

These latest additions form part of SMPE’s overall customer proposition that is high in quality and value, as well as a range that offers wider choice and now, UK aftermarket exclusivity. SMPE’s electronic catalogue ensures that all customers have access to the latest up-to-date information, available through the website’s catalogue or via their third party e-cat providers who receive regular catalogue updates.
