- Bus company Transdev has adorned 160 buses with a large poppy
- Veterans and current servicemen in uniform or wearing medals offered free travel on Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day.
- Operator has made a donation to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
Bus operator Transdev is supporting this year’s Poppy Appeal by adorning its entire fleet with poppies.
Transdev, which operates bus routes across Lancashire and Yorkshire, has put a large poppy on the front of 160 vehicles to commemorate the fallen and support the future of the living, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
It is the first time the operator has placed poppies on the front of its entire fleet in partnership with the Royal British Legion.
After the success of Armed Forces Day, the operator will offer free travel to veterans and current service personnel wearing their uniform or medals on both Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day.
Alex Hornby, chief executive at Transdev, said: “Poppies are a visible reminder of the sacrifices made by those who gave their lives through war and we wanted to show our support to this year’s Poppy Appeal and commemorate the fallen.
“Thousands of people catch our buses every week and we hope by fitting poppies to each of our vehicles we are supporting our customers and our teams in their remembrance.
“It is very important for us to support the Royal British Legion and we are pleased to have made this gesture. We’ve had a tremendous reception from the public and we want to make fitting poppies on our buses a new annual tradition.’’
This year, Transdev has made a total donation of £1,600 to the Royal British Legion and the proceeds will support its welfare work, providing through-life care to anyone who currently serves in the British Armed Forces, who has previously served, and their families.
