Peter Davenport workshop 1

Motiva Boss Heads Back To Shop Floor For Charity

The boss of a leading vehicle solutions company has gone back to the shop floor in aid of charity.  Peter Davenport, managing director of Motiva Group, donned overalls to spend a full day valeting cars and working in the company’s workshop under the supervision of operations manager John Cartwright.

The idea is part of Stoke-on-Trent-based Motiva’s year-round effort to raise money for the nearby Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.

Staff and customers were asked to make donations and, though Peter has already surpassed his original fund-raising target, he’s now hoping for more.

He said: “As a business, we like to do all we can for local charities and the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice is a fantastic cause.  I thought this would be a good way to do something a little out of the ordinary and, at the same time, keep in touch with the entire business.  It’s often good to get out of the office and spend time with staff in their working environment. It helps me to understand their issues.  Some of them will say it’s the first day of proper work I’ve done in years and, if I’m honest, it was really good to get my hands dirty for once.”
