Comment From Patrick Gallagher CEO Of CitySprint On London Congestion Charge Increase
Patrick Gallagher, CEO of CitySprint, the UK’s leading same day distribution network has said the following:
“This above inflation rise will be nothing less than a direct tax on businesses that are finally starting to generate some growth momentum after a difficult few years. That’s why, during the Transport for London consultation at the start of the year, I called for a ‘tiered approach’ to the congestion charge increase. Companies making essential business journeys across the capital on a daily basis – such as delivering business critical goods, transporting medicines and time sensitive products – should not be unfairly hit with a blanket rise in costs.”
“Whilst I completely understand the importance of the congestion charge for investment in London’s transport network, it is disappointing that there will be yet another tax levied at London businesses, just as we have started to feel a spring in our step.”
