CitySprint Set To Add Hundreds Of Couriers Ahead Of Festive Rush

CitySprint, the UK’s largest same day distribution company, today announced that it would be looking to take on as many as 300 additional couriers in the run up to the festive season.

The distribution company made over 250,000 deliveries in December 2012, twice as many as the same period in 2011, making it the busiest festive period yet. Consumer confidence in last-minute online deliveries also appeared to increase, with deliveries peaking on 18th December last year, and remaining high right up to Christmas Eve.

Patrick Gallagher, CEO, CitySprint commented, “As more and more shoppers opt to do their Christmas shopping online, we’re anticipating even higher volumes this year. We’re pulling out all the stops to ensure that we’re prepared for the festive season, and working with our retail customers to do the same. In particular, with potential significant disruption within the UK networks due to possible industrial action, we are gearing up to ensure we can provide emergency support during this period.”

“As our to-do lists grow in the run up to the festive period, more than ever consumers expect deliveries to be flexible and adaptable, to fit their busy schedules not those set by a retailer or distribution partner. The retail and distribution industries need to work even harder together to ensure they are offering consumers the right solutions this Christmas” he added.

Earlier this year CitySprint launched the industry’s first same day app ‘MyCourier’. The app enables users to get quotes, make instant same day bookings anytime, anywhere, via credit card or account as well as track deliveries in real time. The app is free to download and available on iTunes and Android.
