CitySprint Acquires The Courier Service As Part Of Continued Growth Strategy

CitySprint today announced that it has acquired The Courier Service as it continues to expand its reach and consolidate its position as the UK’s leading private same day distribution company.

The Courier Service, an Enfield-based firm, specialises in a range of parcel delivery services across the UK and Europe. CitySprint has acquired all of The Courier Service’s operations, which includes a local and national customer base.

CitySprint was backed by Dunedin, the midmarket private equity house, in 2010 and has subsequently pursued an ambitious approach to growth strategy having successfully completed 12 acquisitions over the last three years.

This acquisition will expand CitySprint’s scale and reach and will provide The Courier Service’s customers with an enhanced service through CitySprint’s 2,500 couriers and network of 37 UK service centres. In addition, customers will benefit from CitySprint’s investment in leading-edge technology such as its MyCourier app, live courier-tracking system and automated status notifications.

The Courier Service’s employees have transitioned over to CitySprint following the acquisition. Local contact details will remain the same.

Patrick Gallagher, Chief Executive of CitySprint, said, “Today’s announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to growth and it’s the third acquisition since the start of the year. We plan to further our reach and develop our offering through local acquisitions and investing in new technology, such as the app, to ensure we offer our customers the best possible service.”

Denise Fresco, Sales and Marketing Director of The Courier Service, added “CitySprint shares our commitment to excellent customer service and we look forward to working closely together to ensure that the integration is a seamless process. We are really excited about working with CitySprint and the added benefits this will bring to our customers. For the time being though, it is ‘business as usual’, with the same team and contact number in place.”
