CHEP Appoints Laurent Le Mercier To Lead Its Global Automotive Activities

CHEP Automotive and Industrial Solutions, the global leader in container pooling solutions in the Automotive supply chain, is pleased to announce the appointment of Laurent Le Mercier to the position of Senior Vice President, Global Automotive.

Le Mercier will be responsible for leading and transforming CHEP’s local automotive businesses around the world, into one single and global, customer-focused business unit. By operating as a unified global business, CHEP Automotive and Industrial Solutions will be well positioned to work in partnership with automotive manufacturers and suppliers across all regions, to help them drive operational efficiency, increase sustainability and lower their total supply chains costs.

Many automotive manufacturers and suppliers also operate globally, which makes CHEP’s global approach a natural transition that will enable the business to consistently meet its customer expectations on service levels and innovation around the world.

Prior to his appointment, Le Mercier held the position of Country General Manager for CHEP Pallets in France during four years. In that role, he led strategies to improve customer satisfaction and cost performance, and fostered innovation through the launch of the layer cardboard pallet. Since first joining CHEP in 2004 to support the reorganisation of the Sales and Customer Service function for CHEP Europe, he also served as Key Account Director for Europe as CHEP’s general manager for Poland and then for Central Europe.

Before joining CHEP, Le Mercier worked for Automobiles Peugeot in various sales and operations roles in Europe. Additionally, as a Strategy Consultant, he helped develop global customer relationship strategies for market-leading businesses in steel and automotive industries. He holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
