Sam McGuirk joins from Ontruck, marking the second phase of Zeus Labs’ development.
Zeus Labs, the developer of the evolutionary new freight booking and management software solution, has announced the appointment of Sam McGuirk to the senior leadership team. Formerly UK Country Director for Ontruck, Sam joins Zeus Labs as Commercial and Growth Director.
This move follows the launch of Zeus Labs earlier this year and is a clear statement of intent that the UK market will be a strategic focus for Zeus Labs as the company continues its impressive growth. The logistics management provider has spent almost a year planning its entrance into the UK market and Sam’s appointments signals that Zeus Labs is moving to its next phase of development.
Sam brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving positive organisational change through digital transformation of companies such as Just Eat and more latterly Ontruck. At Zeus Labs, Sam will have two priorities. Firstly, the continued development of the company’s existing customer base across mainland Europe, and secondly, rolling out the Zeus Lab’s playbook to two other global regions before the end of the year.
Commenting on his appointment, McGuirk said: “The last five years of my career have been the perfect preparation for joining Zeus Labs. Building successful tech businesses is a big challenge and so you must believe you are truly disrupting an industry for the better. That is certainly what Zeus labs is doing.”
“I see the UK as the freight and haulage marketplace in Europe that is best poised to benefit from digital disruption. Though some have tried, no one brand has any hold on the digital freight sector in the UK at present, so it is my job to ensure that Zeus becomes the most innovative and respected digital freight management company in the region.
Zeus Labs currently work with 3 of the top 10 logistics companies in the UK market, which demonstrates the value we add to companies of this size. We are achieving these milestones within 12 months of launch, so my job is to keep us hitting our ambitious targets” concluded McGuirk.
Jai Kanwar, co-founder of Zeus Labs said, “From the very outset of Zeus Labs’ inception we have aimed to be the catalyst for positive digital transformation in the UK freight haulage sector. To achieve that goal, we need the very best people in the sector and by recruiting Sam we have bagged one of the best in the business. We are delighted and very proud that he has chosen Zeus Labs as the company to watch in the sector.”
“The UK freight haulage marketplace has always been a little challenging to enter because of some its’ unique ways of doing business. Unlike other players in the region, we do not believe that one size fits all and we only launched in the UK after many months of consultation with some of the biggest and most respected players in the sector. This investment in research has paid great dividends and we are now ready for our next stage of growth, something that we know Sam will play a major part in.”
Using Zeus Labs, shippers retain control of their shipping capabilities and can choose to only invite trusted suppliers to bid for specific jobs, as well as manage all documents and communications in one place. Shippers also have the option of placing jobs on an open market but still retain control of the bidding process and effortlessly coordinate large numbers of shipments across multiple partners.
For hauliers, the Marketplace allows them to find the most efficient and most profitable jobs, increase full truck-load journeys and stay on top of your vehicle and driver schedules. As with the shipper’s benefits, hauliers can easily manage subcontractors as well as all documents and communications in one place.
