ParcelBright Raise Over £600,000 To Deliver Savings On Business Shipping
London-based parcel delivery startup attracts seven-figure investment from industry VCs
Parcel delivery startup ParcelBright have just disclosed news of their success at attracting $1,000,000 (£640,000) of investment from four industry VCs.
Forward Partners, Talis Capital, Avonmore Developments and Howzat Partners invested in the Shoreditch based business, which attempts to shake up the parcel delivery market by focusing on the needs of small to medium sized e-commerce businesses. For many e-commerce businesses, postage costs cut into profit margins and increase prices for customers. ParcelBright also already boasts several national high street chains as clients.
The invested funds have been designated to building out the core team in order to meet increasing demand as the company continues to gain traction. Founded in January 2014, ParcelBright is already on track to deliver 500,000 packages this year.
As well as their focus on helping small to medium size e-commerce businesses, ParcelBright can provide a Restful API service for larger players requiring a bespoke solution.
Founder and CEO, Daniel Lipinski (previously with Groupon), is excited about the business’ new backers.
“We’ve worked hard to bring industry-specific VCs on board, who have already had success within logistics industry and share our vision of where the market is going”.
“For the first time, ParcelBright enables businesses to have both fully managed sub-accounts (with no credit risk and super-fast bespoke integration) in-depth delivery analytics. This creates a complete logistics package otherwise unseen within the industry”, Daniel expanded.
Co-founder and CTO, Carlos Vilhena, explained the business’ offering in further detail.
“Our goal is to help businesses get parcels to their customers more efficiently than they do now. We aim to create transparency in the delivery marketplace and we believe in tailoring products specifically to each customer. Tailoring our products allows us to get our clients the best prices and services, and makes the last stage of online shopping seamless”.
“E-commerce businesses can often benefit from using different couriers for different products and locations. However, this currently requires several complex software integrations”, Carlos added.
Worsening the issue, many couriers use old technology or are specialised in a specific vertical – be it returns, international shipments, etc. This makes using their services clunky, confusing, and time consuming. It’s too expensive and requires too many decisions to make on a daily basis”.
“We use technology to make this process simple. We believe that SMEs don’t need a comparison service with lots of options and features – they need a simple service that’s been tailored to their needs. ParcelBright takes ownership of their delivery operations so that they can stop wasting time learning different courier platforms and focus on their business”, he concluded.
David Norris at Forward Partners explains the value of ParcelBright’s offering, “Many delivery services are clunky and difficult to use. Not only do ParcelBright customers save time and money, they provide very easy to use tools and give awesome customer service. We’ve been delighted to support Daniel, Carlos and the team from the very beginning”.
Michael Blakey of Avonmore Developments added, “When Daniel approached us we were impressed by ParcelBright’s early traction and fast revenue growth. We understood the gap in the market through our other logistics investments and think the business is well positioned to service fast-moving eCommerce retailers looking to minimise their delivery costs”.
