B&B Attachments Provides Attachment Solution For Naylor Drainage Ltd

Attachment company increases a customer’s efficiency through the provision of an innovative solution…

B&B Attachments Ltd is a nationwide forklift truck attachment company, based in Cramlington, Northumberland.  The company caters to customers’ needs by supplying products that tackle specific handling issues.  Naylor Drainage Ltd experienced the advantages of working with B&B to solve a particular problem it was having on site.

Since its establishment in 1980, B&B Attachments has grown into a nationally, and internationally, operating outfit.  Alongside the sale and hire of attachments from high-profile, worldwide manufacturers, the company also designs and develops bespoke attachments in-house, created to specifically meet its customers’ needs.  With every attachment, service contracts are also offered, which monitor the regular maintenance and repair of each product.

Neal Fowler, Sales Director at B&B Attachments explains the situation:

“This was an interesting situation with an innovative solution in the end.  Naylor Drainage Ltd have a large amount of coiled plastic piping to move around its site and it was  having difficulty in doing so in an efficient way without damaging the piping. Originally, Naylor was using an appliance clamp with two flat arms to handle the coiled pipes, but they are not designed to handle these kind of loads.  These pipes are designed specifically to be used underground, but when coiled up for transport they can get damaged rather easily.  When clamped in a coil, the tubes were distorting and being compressed, leading to them becoming damaged as a result of the pressure on the pipes at the distortion points.  It was becoming such a problem that the company came to us for a solution.

Our design engineers looked at the problem Naylor Drainage Ltd was having and were able to find a resolution.  The Kaup attachment unit supplied allowed the pipes to be supported at many different points due to the bar design, alleviating pressure on specific points. The unit provided also supported the load with a supporting arm which knifes below the bottom of the coil. Both of these supported the coil allowing the pressures on the product to be reduced – none of this could be achieved with an appliance clamp.
