Woodland Media Gallops Ahead In The Year Of The Horse
Media Division opens Hong Kong office to strengthen ties with China-based publishers
Woodland Media is to open a new office in Hong Kong, boosting its services to publishers active in the China market. Part of the UK-based Woodland Group, Woodland Media is a specialist division providing logistics and supply chain solutions for the print and publishing trade.
Under its previous name Bookbridge, Woodland has served the book trade for more than 20 years. It now exports more magazines from the UK than any other logistics company. The new Hong Kong operation – which will officially open on June 3, 2014 – is being established with the support of Woodland’s long-term agency partner IFB International Freightbridge Ltd.
China logistics veteran Sabrina Au-Yeung, a former managing director of Activair (Hong Kong) for 33 years, has been appointed director of Woodland Media (Hong Kong) Limited. She said: “Despite the rise of electronic devices, the demand for English language books, magazines and printed matter in China is as strong as ever. Opening a dedicated Woodland Media office in Hong Kong is an exciting opportunity and I am delighted to be joining the team.”
Explaining the decision to open in Hong Kong, Kevan Childs, Head of Woodland Media, said: “Hong Kong remains an important hub of international business and decision making, particularly in the publishing sector. “The new operation will support Woodland Media’s existing offices in Chelmsford and Heathrow (UK) and Atlanta, New York and Chicago (US). “I have no doubt Sabrina and her team will make a success of the new venture, formed in the fortuitous Year of the Horse.”
In 2010, Woodland won a prestigious Freight Service Award after impressing the British International Freight Association’s judges with its rapid growth in the publishing sector. Winning the special services award, Woodland was praised for bringing innovation and investment to the publishing supply chain and was commended for jumping 65 places in the IATA league table in just one year.
The Woodland Group offers international freight forwarding by air, sea and road. Woodland Media provides a full range of services, including worldwide carriage, warehousing, fulfilment, IT support, supply chain management and cargo insurance.
