Further Fleet Expansion For Bedfords Group

Birstall based transport and logistics company Bedfords Group have bolstered their current fleet with a purchase of 47 Euro-6 Ivecos, which were ordered at this years Commercial Vehicle show, held at Birmingham NEC.  The trucks, a mix of 39 Stralis Hi-Way 460s, seven 18-tonne Eurocargos and a 7.5-tonne Eurocargo, join a predominantly Iveco fleet.

Lee Nichols, Business Improvements Director at West Yorkshire-based Bedfords Group explains that the trucks were chosen following a successful trial, in which they proved to have a lower fixed cost than rivals.

He and Director Philip Lockwood also cite a great relationship with supplying dealer Northern Commercials based in Brighouse, and a high level of driver acceptance as reasons why its fleet is now 70% Iveco.

He is confident that the latest Hi-Ways will be at least as fuel efficient as the Euro-5 EcoStralis tractors on its fleet.
Bedfords Transport also purchased 40 Lawrence David semi-trailers at the show, a mix of 20 single- and 40 double-deck trailers.

The Commercial Vehicle Show is the primary sourcing and selling opportunity for the entire UK road freight transport and logistics industry. The show attracts over 18,000 high quality visitors annually with serious buying power.
