Western Commercial Leads The Mercedes-Benz Vans Charge
Mercedes-Benz franchisee Western Commercial has been rewarded for a concerted assault on the light commercial vehicle market in Central Scotland with the manufacturer’s coveted Van Dealer of the Year award.
Key to Western Commercial’s triumph was its highly successful introduction of the fuel-efficient Mercedes-Benz Citan, the first small van to wear a three-pointed star.
Western beat off competition from 18 other dealers nationwide to claim the title in recognition of its superb performance throughout 2013. Van Sales Manager Joe Scott collected the trophy from Mercedes-Benz Vans Managing Director Steve Bridge and ex-Formula 1® racer David Coulthard, at a ceremony held at the Mercedes-Benz World brand experience centre in Brooklands, Surrey.
“I’m delighted to accept this award and pay tribute to the hard work put in by every member of the van sales team, as well as all the colleagues in other departments who support us so well,” declared Joe.
“With the backing of Mercedes-Benz UK we embarked last year on a plan to grow our van sales to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), while continuing to support larger fleet operators. We were helped in no small way by the launch of the fantastic Citan, which has taken us into a whole new market sector.”
Joe continued: “We took on new staff at our Perth and Edinburgh sites and everyone has worked hard not only to increase our sales penetration, but also to introduce more people to the benefits of our Service Contracts and finance packages, and to provide the highest possible levels of customer service. As a result, not only did we increase total volume sales by 25%, but perhaps more importantly we also grew our customer base by 26%.”
Steve Bridge added: “Western Commercial seized the opportunity offered by the Citan’s launch and has introduced our award-winning vans, together with the comprehensive range of support services we offer, to many customers who are entirely new to our brand. Joe and his team are worthy winners of the Mercedes-Benz Van Dealer of the Year crown.”
Western Commercial sells and supports the award-winning Mercedes-Benz Van and Truck ranges, as well as FUSO Canter light trucks, from dealership sites in Bellshill, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth.
